Best-Looking Video To Make Money?
I run into those questions a lot. When I first started with video marketing, a lot of people said that you must have the very best videos in your niche to make money.
I took them at their word so I spent thousands of dollars on outros and intros and voice-overs and video spokespersons.
What do you think happened after I spent all that money? I ended up with a whole lot of nothing.
It turns out that the best-looking video in your niche depends on what other people are doing in your niche. In other words, you should not take your personal hunch or your personal guess as the final word.
You and I are very different people. You probably have all sorts of ideas regarding what is “the best-looking”. I have my own ideas.
The problem is if I were to throw thousands of dollars into pursuing my hunch of what the best-looking videos in my niche would look like, I probably would not hit the mark. I probably would come up with videos that my target audience members may not appreciate all that much. Don’t get me wrong. They may like the video. The video may be smooth. The video may look like it was produced really well but, at the end of the day, they’re not going to reach into their pockets, whip out their wallets, take out their credit cards and fill out an online payment form.
In other words, they’re not going to make me money. They’re not going to convert. I may have entertained them, but that doesn’t lead to anything.
I hope you understand that there’s a big difference between entertaining, informing, and converting your video viewers. When it comes to video marketing, the name of the game is conversions. It’s all about turning traffic into cash. You’re better off not worrying about anything else.
Unfortunately, a lot of video marketers get the idea in their heads that they’re supposed to come up with really awesome-looking videos. This is why a lot of people go bankrupt. This is the kind of thinking of people who fail at video marketing.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether your video of good-looking or not. What matters is whether they make you money or not. These are two totally different things.
In fact, when I was just starting out in this game, I ran into this channel that had really horrible-looking videos. I mean I was laughing out loud at just how amateurish these videos were. A five-year-old could do a better job… But, what happened? This channel was making money, and I’m not exaggerating here. We’re talking about tens of thousands of dollars every single month. I’m not talking about years here. I’m talking about months…
That’s how much cash this repository of ugly-looking videos was making. The person behind it knew the game. It’s not about whether your stuff looks good or not. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. What matters is whether it looks good enough to make your money. I hope you see the difference here.
The good news is there is actually a simple answer to this. How do you know? How do you find what would look good to your target viewers?
The simple answer is to reverse engineer what your competitors are doing. Pay attention to the kind of videos they’re doing and then start with those. Copy certain elements and start with those.
3 Key Considerations For Using Whiteboard Videos
Let’s say you have decided to use whiteboard videos to market your product. You probably have done your research. You probably have arrived at this conclusion by reverse engineering your competitors. After extensively studying your competitors and seeing what kind of videos they produce, you have arrived at the conclusion that whiteboard videos are the way to go.
However, before you dig into it, please understand that you have to wrap your mind around three key considerations for whiteboard videos. Otherwise, you will be producing the wrong kinds of videos.
It may seem that these videos look like your competitors’ videos. It may seem like these videos are legit. However, if you do not fully appreciate the three considerations below, you may well crank out the wrong videos.
Explain Concepts With Images
The first thing that you need to keep in mind is when you’re explaining concepts, no matter how complicated, you have to use images and text. This is the key. So, the key here is not just the image of plants, people, landscapes, or whatnot, but also images of text. This way, concepts don’t just remain in people’s minds when your voice-over says these concepts.
They pair these concepts with things they can see. This makes it so much easier to wrap their mind around a concept and make sense of it.
Cartoons Can Do The Same Job – Believe it or not when you use a whiteboards video, you can plug cartoon animations. This is great because it breaks up the monotony or boredom of a pure whiteboard animation video.
However, it also brings another advantage to the table. It enables you to create some sort of face-to-face connection with your viewers. They’re face-to-face with a cartoon, but this puts a face to the brand. They’re able to laugh. They’re able to approach the concept that you’re talking about with less hesitation. Things seem less heavy. In other words, you position them to absorb whatever message you’re trying to get across much better and faster.
You have to understand that the more complicated your concept, the more intimidating it may seem to people. Even though you may have nice graphics, diagrams, and text photos, they may not get far enough. By including cartoons, you removed some of the intimidation while increasing the attention factor that may lead to your viewer absorbing more of the stuff you want them to learn.
Finally, you should make sure that the images that you show line up with the voice-over personality that you are projecting. Please understand that whenever there’s a whiteboard video, you introduce a personality to the video. This happens subconsciously but it is happening.
If there is a massive disconnect between the image the person sees and the personality that they attribute to the voice-over in the video, they may not connect with your concepts. Things may fall between the cracks. The message you’re trying to get across may either fall flat or the viewer may be distracted. Whatever the case may be they did not get what you want them to get.
